having shields divided into four sections (front, left, right, rear) would give the engineer something to do during combat

its definitely a problem that the engineer doesnt have a whole lot to do once you get a good reactor

I have no problem with people bypassing science hunting. But there needs to be a tradeoff for it. You shouldnt be able to start with an outrider, research all the science super fast, then switch over to a better ship like the Roland. And make out better than if you started in a Roland. the new ship seems really overpowered to me

because you get a huge research bonus and then you can just capture a roland or whatever while still keeping the research bonus of the outrider

why would you not start every game in an outrider?

Honestly the outrider should be a non-starter ship anyway. Its incredibly overpowered as a starter ship because you can use it to jumpstart research then just capture a roland or whatever other ship you want to play and keep all the research from the outrider. theres no reason not to start in an out...

I like having infected in the game but its dumb that shields dont work in infected space

it just feels like a really artificial way to make the encounters more difficult

there needs to be some kindve long range scan too so you can scan other systems and at least tell if theres ships there or not
