I think it could be fun if you want to roleplay as an experienced officer arriving in the galaxy just before the Intergalactic Warpgates were disabled rather than starting off as a new recruit.

True enough, but these could be used for other scenarios, namely an Infected Carrier assaulting an uninfected sector, or if they decide to implement a faction or ships dedicated to combating the Infected.

I think there should be events for programs and viruses on and affecting the ship, so that I can have the sci-Bot cleaning/using viruses and using programs better. I don't think they'll add the ability to improve extractors, as being able to almost always secure even the best components isn't necessarily a good way to make the game interesting.
