That sounds like a good solution, I am really hoping for more system-depth because I love simulation and flipping (virtual) switches! Even tho I personally would prefer seeing the most important "Main-Informations" on one screen, and having some other screens [with tabs] to look at these information...

I also like to have manual control over as much systems as possible, simple because I like flipping switches and pressing buttons ^^
Oh, and manual alert-states (red, yellow, green?!) with sirens and red flashing lights! (Like Star Trek!).
