Joystick throttle overrides Full/Reverse buttons

Severity: Minor, affects only joystick users who expect throttle to work a certain way. Setup: Using a Saitek X-52 controller with throttle set to 50% plus 50 offset, so that the throttle goes from 0-100 thrust instead of -100 to 100 thrust. This is because trying to stop the ship by putting the thr...

Re: What Works, What Doesn't: New Player Edition!

Food from Z menu, I must have missed that. That's useful. Food still has the problem of feeling samey, but at least its quicker.

I haven't run the reactor that far into the red in a long, long time. So yes, the rads are probably not very new, but they're new to me!

Re: What Works, What Doesn't: New Player Edition!

Ah, yeah, that's not great. Update to the above, for the Leafy Devs. We took our new players into two key missions -- stopping the asteroid impact, and the wasted wing. The asteroid impact mission is great fun. Past times I had failed it, but this time we somehow pulled it off. Getting a Level 5 Cor...

Re: What Works, What Doesn't: New Player Edition!

Yeah, when I play Eng, I usually tell the pilot with my voice "We're running hot, cool the engines if you can" and I downplay shields. Shield recharge is one of the most energy (and thus heat) intensive things on the list, but it's also the easiest to bypass with fuel cells -> SH. I'm not sure what ...

What Works, What Doesn't: New Player Edition!

Oh man it's been a while since I posted one of these! Had a bunch of new players join up and we flew around an on Intrepid class. I took on Captain/Pilot, with new players taking on Science/Engineering respectively. What Works Just about everything. Maybe that's not helpful feedback, but the general...

Pilot Engine Reserve System

I don't know how the game is architected so I'm not sure if this is a very easy change or not. The problem: As a player, you want to be able to *do things*. Unfortunately, when piloting, flying around builds heat quickly, so *not* maneuvering is often as good or better than maneuvering. Additionally...

Re: Keeping the Warp Drive charged up.

The warp drive charge system as it exists right now is fairly primitive. It works, but engineers are far too likely to want to charge the drive right away because there is no penalty for doing so. Because warping is so common, I'd honestly love to see a redesign that gets everyone involved. Well, ev...

Re: The Uber Driver Pilot

I'll need to try Hybrid view out. I was pretty sure I tried every view out and found the camera controls lacking, but this was by far my smallest complaint. The statement that repairs are free if you're willing to raise your chaos level sort of misses the point. Raising your chaos level is a cost (a...

Re: The Uber Driver Pilot

Hi Edinstein, Fixing the throttle would be a huge step forward. As for the camera, the mode I'm using is, in fact, fixed mode. However, sometimes I want to look directly above or even behind, so I can see what the gunner has in-arc, or what I can dodge as we run away. In fixed mode, when I use the h...

Re: The Uber Driver Pilot

Ah, maybe I didn't explain this well enough. I did have the controls on precice mode. The problem is that zero is in the middle of the throttle state. That's not a natural place to try to find when I want to bring thrust to zero, as opposed to the 0% and 100% part of the throttle. In addition, since...
