NX-01 had no replicators and so, they weren't explorers? Just say "I wanna play casual" and be ok. This option is good. Nobody said they weren't explorers, just that their tech is less evolved. I also agree with the idea of an OPTIONAL and NOT default survival mode which can be turned on for player...

I don't get it - what exactly can the captain do, apart from give orders and use the shops? Why you need a #1 for that? Plot courses, open up the emergency blind jump option, control the comms once the scientist has opened them... Also the idea could be expanded to allow for crew to have access to ...

I've suggested/supported the "custom permissions" idea a few times in the past. I still think it's a good idea.

Ability to give/restrict access to certain functions would be great, and not just for a "2nd in command" type feature (although that's also a great idea).

Change in transporter behaviour depending on location would be nice. If you're going somewhere like a station or another ship where there's a working transporter, keep the current system. This would also happen with inhabited planets with ground bases and the like. On an uninhabited/unexplored world...
