teleporter beacons make sense too though. leaving someone on the ship who can beam you back, or using the teleporter beacon in your inventory, either way. teleporter pads in installations on planets (and stations) could be made to beam you quickly, where teleporter beacons might take a while to lock...

I've suggested/supported the "custom permissions" idea a few times in the past. I still think it's a good idea. Dedicated server and LAN stuff is on their roadmap. I do have high hopes they'll figure out how to make a dedicated Galaxy Server, and just let crews of ships join and interact. That would be ideal for this game. My crews and I have already tested multiplayer ship battles, between abandoned Intrepid...
