love the idea of shuttles,

love this !, scriptable ai and maybe you could have 5 player slots and an addiitonal 1 to 5 ai slots so you could bring up the crew to 10 with 5 extra ai bots? they could all be red shirts. prone to dying.

forgot an important one, shuttles for ground combat, like helicopters in arma 3
shuttles /escape pods for space combat? escape pods have a limited warp to get to nearest space station to get new ship / crew :D

Personally i think experienced pilots should unlock special abilities that they keep from ship to ship, like barrel rolls, loops, emergency acceleration, emergency braking, increase to defence / damage from high speed, emergency swerves etc. They could have 5 to 10 minute cooldown to avoid being spa...

persistant character data, a bit like in cod, where each character has levelled up and unlocked abilities and weapon usage. So a skilled engineer can come in to a newbie ship and rescue them.
