  • I think my main gripe with the station is that, okay it's made of lots of other ships and what not. But where exactly are these bloody great big ships that have made this bloody great big station with the bloody huge corridors and central atrium.

I have also been trying to make sense in my head about where on these ships the various rooms have come from.

Am I getting the wrong end of the stick and thinking that the station is made up of whole ships smushed together? When really other ships were just pulled apart to construct the station?

    (sorry for crappy paint skills)

Oh, and another thought, as it is multiple ships smushed together, there should be multiple teleport locations as each ship would have had its own teleporter.
That could be used to easily get from one section to another for players who don't want to run and jump their way across the whole station to get to somewhere.

  • You make a good point actually... multiple Teleporters makes a lot of sense.

I personally think with a little work it would look more authentic... cause at the moment the way it looks is (and bare with me)

It looks like its designed to look like multiple ships engineered together... instead of looking like they have actually been engineered together.

  • Yeah I get what you mean.

If I were designing a station cobbled together from different ships, I'd block out a few different shaped ships and then mush them all together to get an area to work with, then start laying out rooms within that space.

However an issue would arise in that if you have a ship merged in that had been rotated on the z or x axis (as one would expect, considering it's space) all the rooms from that portion of the ship would be on a slope, which might result in wasted space, unless it were possible to acknowledge mulitple directions for gravity. In which case, each ship could have its own gravity, pulling the player to its own orientation. That would make for some pretty awesome layouts, but code wise it would be challenging.

Alternatively, make most of the station from large ships all in the same orientation, and use the hulls of smaller, single corridor (ie. cargo barges) to act as sloped corridors to the different levels.

Honestly, I think the current design looks like a badly built station, as opposed to derelict ships repurposed into a station. I mean what single ship has an atrium area that large!?! And if the answer is, "oh it's a long derelict capital/colony ship" then please make an actual ship that large that we can bump into. D:

  • Cornelia Station Feedback:

The Design is nice, but difficult to soak into the part of your brain, called Navigation.

A station, like cornelia, should have a lot of quests, or things to do for the whole crew, maybe some fighting too, or it will be just annoying. Getting Lost in Outposts (where you cant do anything) just ends in beeing sad.

For myself, a good design is to show the customer something impressive, but easy to understand and in functional design.(talking about the real world ->architect)

Remeber yourself of different computer games, were you were "****** off" of running around in some structures for nothing.

But if its a station for adventures and exploration its a nice design :)

Sorry for critism, just want to be honest!

  • I hope to find many NPCs here in the near future. Maybe a shady Sun Dust dealer or two, and a few new missions would be very nice. At least some attack robots.

  • I found this station by accident when I was travelling, and as soon as I teleported I regretted exploring.
This place is HUGE in the scale of getting lost, after exploring every nook and creek I got lost and couldn't find the teleporter back to my ship, eventually after fifteen minutes I found it.

So my only suggestion, seeing as it's made out of multiple ships, maybe a few more teleporters?

  • Multiple teleporters or a special dot for the teleporter on the scanner would be very nice. I happened to find the station while exploring, so we didn't end up stranded.

  • I would like to propose this idea for the Cornilea station,

I see that this station could be a hidden smuggler/pirate sanctuary, with that we the player/crew could end up as a smuggler/pirate trading on the station and maybe end up becoming the person in charge, or a hostile take over by clearing the station of the smuggler/pirate inhabitants all taking several missions and having to transport specific npcs to the location from different regions of space.

Then further content could be to enhance the station defences by building and upgrading to use this station as a hub for the fight against the infection, with an ancient device is found somewhere in the galaxy to combat the infection.
