Will a corrupted OS cause damage to installed programs, I wonder?

Also, I'd like to think that a complete ship reboot might not take a set period of time, but would depend on how efficient the Engineer was during the startup. It'd be worrying to be on the bridge, seeing the O2 dropping with no idea how much longer the reboot would take, for example (I guess that would only be the case if O2 distribution was handled by the computer, or something :P )

ALSO: what are these shiny new levers in the weapons room?!
"You win again, gravity!"

I usually play as Wilson505 in Pulsar, so now you know who to send angry PMs to when I accidentally break things on your ship...

A corrupt OS shouldn't damage your programs, it would just fail to boot. But in theory it may be possible, as if the OS wrote to areas in storage which were already in use it could cause damage to programs (but if an OS is corrupt it likely just wont run).

And I think it should be both the Engineer and the Scientist who need to work together to get the ship up; the Engineer to manage the power and engines and such, and the Scientist to manage the life support and computer.

I feel like the programs are going to be stored on physical drives that you can purchase and swap out (almost like floppy disks :P ). I don't know the ins and outs of quantum computing (I think that's what the devs said "powers" / "charges" the programs?) but I just thought they might want to imagine some sort of pseudo-science to add to the game mechanic of ship rebooting

I hope they add some drawbacks for the use of certain programs like the instant hyperdrive charging.
Like overload of the core, or weapons unusable for a certain time after jump, or such.
This would be more realistic i think.

Now that I think about it you only gave the scientist what he can do for there is available, after all he can't do any SCIENCE
