Mine Field Changes

Post by Pandemic08 » Sun Oct 19, 2014 2:39 pm

Just had a thought about a change to the minefields. Make it so that you can blow up the mines but you have to be careful because the mines would blow other mines up as well as the scrap. So if a mine blows up to close to the scrap the scrap is destroyed. I think this would make the minefields just a bit more fun and interesting.

I completely agree! We want to do quite a lot more with mines in the future, allowing players to blow them up from a safe distance makes sense to us, we also want to increase their detection range and potentially have them move towards the ship before exploding. Damaging scraps is a pretty cool idea too!

I love the idea of moving minds.

Right now mines are pretty neutral. They can be easily avoided, and they aren't worth interacting with.

A minefield which "wakes up" and starts slowly moving towards the player would be great, especially since the weapons officer would now have to frantically gun-down the incoming mines, or the pilot would have to accelerate away, or both.

It would also be neat if science officers could reprogram the mines.
