Pilot should be able to warp the ship.
Pilot should be able to warp the ship.
Hi!
I just wanted to suggest that the Pilot should be the one to both charge and engage the warp drive. I feel it not only give them something more to do, but also fits their role.
Also it's very Star Trek. =p
Thanks for listening!

Re: Pilot should be able to warp the ship.
I totally agree with this.
Re: Pilot should be able to warp the ship.
Disagree on jump drive prep, but would be happy with them engaging.
Re: Pilot should be able to warp the ship.
Its the job of the engineering, im disagreeing with that.
Making the steps easier, is not the way the game should go.

Yeh, it sucks when other crew members do stuff that is actually your job. (and they can still do that by walking over to your console if really necessary)
IMHO, that would take away the need to cooperate and communicate which is the very heart of this game.

Always happy to team up with English or German speaking crews that use TS3/Mumble.

I think the pilot station should have the ability to engage the warp but not charge it.

I disagree, besides, captain should have final say whether to jump or not so it does not really matter if it is engi or pilot, but I think that if the pilot does engage, it breaks the idea of communication in the game.
Besides, the pilot has plenty enough to do...

Re: Pilot should be able to warp the ship.
I for one am in favor of allowing the pilot to jump but ONLY IF their isn't an engineer assigned to the task of doing it. It would be nice if you could actually use multiple systems at once in one panel IF you do not have any players in with you. But once someone jumps in to play, that command cannot be accessed by you and can only be accessed to the person assigned to the class role.

Re: Pilot should be able to warp the ship.
Ultimately the Engineer is still required, because they have to charge the warp drive. Having the pilot engage the warp would feel fine by me, especially since it would result in a somewhat linear flow. Right now there's a lot of back and forth -- engineer charges the warp drive, pilot points the ship, engineer engages.
It would certainly make it easier to solo.

But still, the final decision is on the captain when it comes to jumping. He's the one who says to jump. So really it always has to go to him, and then to the engineer or the pilot. Having the jump button be on a screen allows any class to press the button, even the pilot could just walk over. I think the way that it is is fine.
