Seperation of classes

Have been playing for quite some time now and I am fully enjoying the game but I feel that sometimes I'm made redundant by others just jumping over to my station and doing my job 'for a second.'

This has often unmotivated me and led me to just sitting in my area doing )almost) nothing.

Maybe you could incorporate some form of station lock? Such as when I'm not near the terminals, they shut down or need a pin to open? Obviously, with this more problems could arise but there does need to be a system in place to stop it feeling like one person can do everything on the ship, or, in other words, make it so talents aren't the only thing making the classes different.

Anyone else have any thought on how this could be implemented?

Firstly, we’re sorry to hear that you feel your job is being undermined by other players.

We’ve considered separating the classes before, however, we decided to keep the classes open in case a player leaves in the middle of the game or is currently incapacitated. Without other crewmembers being able to fill the roll in the interim, it could lead to greater consequences--in the worst case ship destruction. But it’s unfortunate to hear that open classes can result in what you’ve experienced. We would really like to try to add unique class abilities, more powerful than talents, that could distinguish the classes more clearly. However, we can’t guarantee that we’ll add something like this yet.

Ideally, we hope that issues like this can be brought to the captain, but we unfortunately can’t always account for the human element of a game in PULSAR. Apologies, and we sincerely hope your experience improves.

I've been playing for a while, and I know a long time ago, a big portion of the community asked if the Captain could lock stations to avoid trolls. If the Captain could toggle this that would be great. If the Captain died, the ship should automatically unlock stations. The Captain could only do this from the chair.

The Talent Points separate the classes mainly but a little more can be done, on the ship and during the away missions with not much too code hopefully.

During Ship Operations and while roaming:
Captain can stealth
Weapons Specialist has over shield on health. (Halo type)
Science already has amazing health perk
Engineer - Wears Armor - Can activate teleport waypoints on the planet (like check points)
Pilot - Binoculars to scout (Like a crow's nest pirate)
