0.46 Release Notes

Hey everyone!

Version 0.46 should be out now! (As always if you got the game through Humble, it can take some time for that direct download link to update.) We’ve implemented an entirely new starmap and galaxy generation system. The new starmap can be found in the TAB menu and supports a lot more sectors. The average galaxy right now is around 2000 sectors!

For starters, every sector is visible on the starmap at the beginning of the game. The zoomed out version of the starmap now shows a galaxy! Gas clouds and faint stars can be seen as well as the giant bright center. Zooming in will give players the ability to view the details about each sector.

Based on the video settings, the starmap will show a number of sectors on-screen at any time. This can help performance and/or display many sectors from a large distance away.
Sectors will only illuminate when based on the setting. The default setting allows 250 sectors on-screen.

Pressing Alt when viewing sectors will display the sector number.

The Captain can now plot a course for the ship to take!
Simply right click on a sector to draw a path to that sector. Right clicking on another sector will create a multi-step course, useful for when you need to stop along the way or when you want to avoid a specific area.

Right clicking on a marker will remove it from the path, right clicking on the ship’s current sector will remove all path markers.

Besides the starmap we’ve also made a lot of progress on what we are calling the Campaign Editor. It’s an internal standalone tool that will hopefully allow us to create special NPC’s, dialogue, missions and scenarios quickly and efficiently. It isn’t implemented yet, but we are pretty excited about it!

Fixes
-Fixed bug that caused parts of the piloting and turret huds to draw over the tab menu
-Fixed bug with path network on the WD cruiser
-Inputs from overview tab no longer affect piloting view

Immediately I'm thinking that a good idea would edit what a waypoint's position in the quarry would be
