We actually experimented with having a third-person view very early into the project. We quickly realized though that interacting with screens gets more difficult with your character model in front of the screen.
It'd be cool to see your character in third person, and it would be possible to implement. Unfortunately, it's one more thing that we would have to test and debug, and some controls would likely have to be reworked. We have a lot on our plate at the moment, and because of the workload it would take to get a third person view up and running, we don't foresee adding it right now, apologies!
