People using mods to ruin lobbies and force players into quitting

Post by Rumibard Warger » Wed Jun 17, 2020 1:46 pm

I have encountered a number of people who go around entering random public lobbies and ruining the game whenever they can (e.g. removing all ship components during warp without being captain or having a repair depot). If modifying the game grants such abuse potential to anyone, it is probably better to restrict this power to select people so as to prevent further abuse that is driving players away (the captain/host of the lobby I was in, who came back to Pulsar to check out the new features after years of absence, got annoyed and left after realizing what was going on).

Modded trolls are becoming more of a problem.
A few are working on finding how they're abusing the code and sending the devs the info needed to help fix it, but in the long run it might be better to make modding near or completely impossible.

Having official ways to mod the game, with limitations might be the way to go, even if that means that all the current helpful/fun mods like FlashlightsPlus, Max Players, or the in-progress HardMode are stopped.

Happened just now again, Severoky and Tevari going into a public lobby, removing all components, and forcing a disconnection when they are kicked. If the developers do not react to this problem, I will probably stop playing Pulsar. No point in playing if the game can be ruined by a troll in a matter of seconds.

The same thinking. I will likely stop playing Pulsar if the creators do not address this issue. There's no use in playing if a troll can spoil it in a flash.
